Leading effectively is a part of every Penn Stater's life. It is about interacting with people and learning to express yourself in such a way that those around you will be inspired to work alongside you. At Theta Delta Chi, we highly encouraged our members to pursue leadership roles on campus and in our house as a means of personal development. Through interacting with people we live with, growing by their criticims and praises, we learn many valuable life skills which greatly assist us in the positions we are afforded today and will continue to help us in our future endeavours.
As underclassmen, Theta Delts are presented with many opportunities to grow and develop as leaders both in our house and on campus. Oportunities may include, but are not limited to, serving as Rush Chairs, Thon Captains, IFC Representatives and club officers. Even those who intend to shy away from such positions are just as likely to emerge as leaders within Theta Delta Chi.
Leadership starts in the house itself, where self-governannce is more than a abstract idea. Theta Delts elect officers to organize events, plan activities and community service, maintain connections with our alumni, manage finances and much much more. At Theta Delta Chi, we strive to provide an environment where our members can be afforded the opportunity to enhance and leadership skills so that they are prepared to be the leaders of tomorrow long after they have finished their educations at Penn State.
The Preamble Institute (Pi) provides undergraduate leaders within Theta Delta Chi the unique opportunity to work with other undergraduate leaders from charges across North America during an intense two days of training and educational sessions. Pi gives participants a setting to define and improve leadership skills, to fully understand Theta Delta Chi values and ritual and to develop values-based plans of action for their charges. Attending brothers leave PI with a stronger commitment to Theta Delta Chi and a strong network of fraternal peers to aid them in the future.
Each year, at least one member from each charge of Theta Delta Chi is invited to spend the weekend with facilitators and other undergraduate leaders within Theta Delta Chi and experience brotherhood in a new light. TDX National has worked tirelessly to develop the curriculum in what is an enriching and eye opening experience. Each member makes a deep connection to our fraternal values and networks with other up-and-coming leaders from charges around the United States and Canada. The experiences gained empower young Theta Delts to make a difference in their charge, their Greek Community, and throughout their lives.
