THON (Penn State Dance Marathon)

Theta Delta Chi is a proud participant in the largest student run philanthropy in the world, Penn State THON. We are frequently a top-ten fundraiser in the multimillion-dollar effort that THON makes every year in hope of a cure for pediatric cancer. This year, we have hosted multiple fundraising events including restaurant fundraisers, candle deals, bake sales and more. We have multiple THON chairs including family relations, donor-alumni-relation, alternative fundraising and special events. This year, we participated in the THON 5k, sending multiple participants to run/walk. Afterwards, we hosted a family barbeque with our families and partner sorority. All of our brothers are motivated in participating and fundraising this year, making personal donor drives and reaching out to families, friends and businesses to attain our goal of ending pediatric cancer and one day dancing for a cure.

An extremely important aspect of our THON efforts are our relationships with our families. We currently have four, Four Diamonds families: The Howes, Marsicos, Karchners and now the Grimms. A large part of our yearly involvement is staying connecting and providing as much support as possible to our families. Throughout the year, we host events with our families such as our family barbeque, holiday dinner, Hershey Medical Center tours, THON weekend brunch and more. All of our families are considered a part of our brotherhood and a part of our family. On top of our families, Theta Delta Chi sends multiple dancers to THON every year. We elect brothers who best represent both the best aspects of THON and Theta Delta Chi to dance for 46 hours in the no sitting, no sleeping marathon in February. THON participation is something this brotherhood takes tremendous pride in. This philanthropy is not only a staple of Penn State, but a staple of Theta Delta Chi and our desire to positively impact our community.
